GED PROGRAM

There are four parts to this program.

1. Pre-GED classes (General Educational Development)

  • Prepare for GED level classes in the following subject areas:
    1. reading comprehension for social studies, science and literature
    2. writing skills
    3. math
  • Group and computer assisted instruction.
  • Day and evening classes meet twice weekly.
  • Available at the Adult Education Centers in the eastern and western portions of Henrico County.
  • Fee: Tuition for first time students is $60.00; this includes the textbook and GED calculator. Tuition for returning students is $25 per 12 week class session. Tuition must be paid prior to starting class. No refunds available.
  • If a business or agency is paying your tuition fees you must bring documentation on the business or agency letterhead giving us permission to bill them; otherwise the student will be responsible for paying the tuition fees.

2.  GED Practice Test

  • Results are used to indicate GED test readiness.
  • Recommendations are made for classes or further evaluations.
  • Available at the Adult Education Centers in the eastern and western portions of Henrico County.
  • NO fee

3. GED Preparatory Program

  • Structured, short term sessions to prepare adults for the GED test.
  • A review of math, writing skills, and reading techniques to develop critical thinking skills for science, social studies and literature.
  • Available at the Adult Education Centers in the eastern and western portions of Henrico County.
  • Classes meet twice weekly.
  • Fee:

4.  GED test

  • Available at least once a month to individuals who want to earn a high school equivalency certificate.
  • Available at the Adult Education Centers in the eastern and western portions of Henrico County.
  • Day and evening testing available.
  • Preregistration is required.
  • Registration fee:  $50.00
  • First time tester's fee: $8.00.

GED Transcripts - Henrico Adult Education Centers can provide you with another copy of your GED transcript. Call one of our centers or stop by to request a transcript. The cost is $5.00.
