Communications & Community Outreach
The Department of Communications & Community Outreach is a compilation of multiple facets of Public Relations. These facets include: Media Services/Media Relations, Television Services, the Henrico Education Foundation, Residency Compliance and Legislative Services.
Combining the talents and expertise of public relations, media services and television services, the Department of Communications & Community Outreach gathers, edits, compiles and records information pertaining to the operations, history and activities of the school system. Such information is communicated to the media, community, school personnel, parents and students in a timely fashion through various sources. The department also plans and coordinates community activities and events throughout the school division.
Communications & Community Outreach provides the following services:
- Community and media relations
- Communication (media advisory, news release, public service announcement, public notice)
- Publications (School Days, Annual Report, newsletters, program brochures)
- District website design, development and content updates
- Television coverage and content on HCPS-TV (student performances, academic highlights, athletic events)
- Marketing and event planning
- Special events (Community Priorities Workshop, Convocation, Student Congress, Graduation, Henrico 21, school dedication)
- HCPS Christmas Mother and United Way Campaign
- Graphic design
- Literature distribution to students
- Liaison for Henrico County Council of PTAs and Lay Advisory Committee
- Volunteer program
- Employee recognition (ABCD Award)
- Employee informational materials (leadership directory, phone lists, Special Days & Weeks)
