Meal Accounts
Personal Identification Number (PIN) When a child enters their 5-digit PIN, the cashier does not know whether the child receives free or reduced benefits. If a child purchases an a la carte item, the dollar amount will appear on the cashier screen. Federal law prohibits sharing information concerning the free or reduced status of children to anyone within the schools. All students have 3 ways to maintain their own private account. Students may prepay funds to their accounts for meals purchased, pay with cash at the register, or use myLunchMoney.com.
Payments Money may be placed in your child’s account for the convenience of purchasing meals and extra items. Money may be sent to your school’s cafeteria at anytime during the week. If your child is temporarily at another Henrico school, please contact Technology Support in the School Nutrition Services Office to assign an alternate school to the student’s account. Parent(s) who prepay for student meals is responsible for monitoring these funds since School Nutrition Services DOES NOT MAKE REFUNDS at the end of the year or when students leave the County. However, there are other options: For a student in elementary, middle or high school who returns to the same school, their fund balance remains in their account to start the school year. If a student transfers schools within the County, the Cafeteria Manager in the former school must be notified in order to transfer the account balance to the new school. If a student leaves the County, the balance in their account may be transferred to another student in any Henrico County school. For assistance, please call the school's Cafeteria Manager. You may sign up with myLunchMoney.com (see below for details) or send cash, personal checks, money orders or cashier's checks. Please include the following information with your payment: It is okay to pay for more than one child with one check within the same school. Just indicate how much to credit each child’s account using each child’s PIN number. Every year, parents participating in this program will need to go on-line and update their child’s account. Any remaining funds at the end of the school year (over summer) are carried over to the next school year. Please visit the website at: https://www.mylunchmoney.com/ for further information. This website includes ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ to assist parents. School-Link Technologies, Inc. will charge parents a handling fee for each prepayment. Please call the Customer Support number at: 1-800-479-3531 for more specific information regarding fees involved.
Check Writing Policy Checks are to be made payable to the school's cafeteria. Only personal checks with preprinted name and address will be accepted.
Returned Checks Cash only will be accepted at the serving line. The returned check amount must be repaid to School Nutrition Services office by cash or money order. There will be an additional $35 service charge applied at the time of repayment. Any uncollected returned check fees are turned over to Henrico County.
Students without Meal Money School Nutrition Services will not allow a child to go without food. In the event there is no money available in the child’s account or they forget to bring money, School Nutrition Services will allow the student to charge up to $5.00. At this point a “Charge Notice to Parent’s” will go home with the student, notifying the parent that the student’s account has a negative balance. After the $5.00 charge limit has been reached and if the student still does not have money for their lunch meal, the student will be given a sandwich and milk at no charge until the account is paid up. Any student with a negative balance will not be allowed to purchase or charge à la carte items until their account is paid up.
