Henrico High to Hold 50th Anniversary Celebration
The 50th anniversary celebration marking the opening of Henrico High School is slated for this fall with two weekends of festivities that will spotlight some of the school’s most notable alumni while providing current students with a hands-on opportunity to plan and implement the “Warrior Fifty Year Jubilee.”
An alumni tailgate party from 4:30-6:30 p.m. will precede the Friday, September 28th,varsity football game against Atlee High School at Kenneth Lee Chappell Stadium, and new inductees of the Henrico High School Hall of Fame will be honored at half time.
A parade of dignitaries and special guests will also take place during halftime of the October 12th varsity homecoming football game against Hanover High School. The traditional crowning of the new homecoming queen and king will be attended by members of past homecoming courts. Plans also include alumni members of the school choir, band and marching units during the pre-game ceremonies. A Warrior Jubilee alumni party in the gymnasium will follow the game.
On Saturday, October 13th, the Henrico High School 50th Anniversary Warrior Jubilee celebration will begin at 8:00 a.m. with a 5K run/walk. At 11:00 a.m. in the auditorium there will be a special program of art, music and dance, at which many of the school’s original and former faculty will be recognized. Two of Henrico’s most distinguished alumni, international best-selling author, David Baldacci, and “Tonight Show” comedian, Brett Leake, will speak. The festivities will conclude with catered dining in the school’s cafeterias, a display of school memorabilia and tours of the Henrico High School campus.
All present and former Henrico High School students and faculty are welcome and are urged to attend. A detailed schedule of events and ticket information can be found online at: http://henricowarriorjubilee.com/
