Highlights

Henrico High School’s cheering team reached the Regional level of competition for the first time in the history of the school.

The 2011 yearbook staff at Tucker High School won trophy class in the Virginia High School League competition, making it the only high school in Henrico County to earn the award this year.

Billy Stoneman of Varina High School NJROTC won the Cadet Achievement Award for outstanding achievement and sustained superior performance.

Brian Will, a student at Deep Run High School, completed the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America’s (FCCLA) Capitol Leadership Training in Washington, D.C, where he went to Capitol Hill and met legislative correspondents.

Out of 15,000 entries the following students from Henrico High School won the Ayn Rand Anthem Essay Contest.  Finalists: Eleanor Creedon and Sneha Rajan Semi-Finalists: Jannatul Nayeem, Serena Ngoh, Cheryl Puryear, Samantha Rafalowski, and  Hannah Schmidt

Henrico County Adult Education was recently recognized as a Tier 1 top performing program, receiving the highest rating in the state.

Rivers Edge and Colonial Trail elementary schools have been selected as Virginia Naturally Schools for the fourth year in a row. Short Pump Elementary and Twin Hickory elementary schools are being recognized for the first year.
