Plan Process
Henrico County used the planning process developed by Cambridge Strategic Services. This community led process has the following components:
1. The Strategic Planning Steering Committee - This committee includes representatives from all stakeholder groups in the community. The group examined the school district’s strengths and weaknesses and developed the framework for the plan. This work was completed in January 2010.
2. The Action Teams- The Action Teams took the framework developed by the Steering Committee and provided the details for implementation of the plan. The Action Teams began their work in March 2010 and completed their plans by the end of May 2010.
3. Community Review of the Plan- Once the Action Teams completed their work, the Steering Committee held open community forums to receive input about the plans. The Steering Committee considered the comments from the community while developing the final plan. Public comment on the plan was solicited in June 2010.
4. School Board Approval of the Plan- The final plan was presented to the School Board for their approval in August 2010.
5. School-based Strategic Planning - Each school was asked to assemble a planning team for their school with representatives from the stakeholders in their specific school community. The school teams developed individual plans that support the District Strategic Plan.
