Laptop Training
Sixth grade students receive extensive laptop training on the care and use of their new laptops when they are distributed in the fall. Ninth grade students receive additional organized training to acclimate them to their new computers when they enter high school. Each school determines how they want to provide this formal laptop training. All other training is embedded in instructional projects and is ongoing in all secondary classrooms through collaboration of the teacher, the Instructional Technology Resource Teacher, and the librarian.
Students in grades K-5 also have access to laptop computers, however these are kept in classrooms and on carts. Classroom Teachers and Instructional Technology Resource Teachers teach the students proper use of the technology and expose them to specific applications through curriculum embedded lessons and projects.
