PRACTICAL
NURSING - FINANCIAL AID
Sources of Financial Aid
Pell Grant
Adult citizens or permanent residents of the U.S. with
sufficient financial need are eligible. The amount awarded is based on the
student's personal/family income for the preceding year and in which phase
of the program the student is enrolled. Pell Grants are not loans and do not
need to be paid back. Application for a grant can be made after admission to
the program. The grant is awarded after the applicant has attended classes
for 30 days. Applications are available in the office of the Director of the
School of Practical Nursing.
Guaranteed Student Loans
These are low interest loans made to the student by a
lender such as a bank, credit union, or savings and loan association. The
student must repay these loans.
Capital Area Training Consortium

by this agency. Call 226-0885 for information.

Rehabilitation may be sponsored by this agency.
Veteran's Administration

Administration may receive aid from this agency.
Scholarships
There are several scholarships of varing amounts
available which do not need to be paid back. Each has its own criteria. A
few organizations awarding scholarships are:
Mildred A. Mason Memorial Scholarship Foundation
Virginia Health Care Association
HOSA Scholarship
See the Director of the School of Practical Nursing for
further information about these.
If you apply for financial aid and have proof that it
will be received, you may pay for your tuition when aid is received, provided
that you sign a note of promise to pay. This does not apply to the $50.00
registration fee adults are required to pay upon acceptance to hold a place in
the program.
