Criminal Justice

Course Description

This course is designed for juniors and seniors who are considering careers in law enforcement, courts, forensics or corrections. Students will explore the occupations, activities, and procedures involved in the criminal justice system. An integral aspect of the program is the participation of local, state, federal, and private law enforcement agencies with demonstrations, field trips, and lectures. The course is taught in cooperation with the Henrico County Division of Police(HCDP).

Post Secondary Training

Students who wish to explore a broader public safety curriculum may attend Hermitage Technical Center for two years. CJ is a 2 year course. Students will take CJ1 their junior year. They will learn the fundamentals of CJ and the history of CJ. 2nd year is more hands on. They will learn Crime Scene Investigation, Traffic Accident Investigation and much morThis course is articulated with the Administration of Justice program at J. Sergeant Reynolds Community College, which is articulated with the four-year degree in Administration of Justice and Risk Management at Virginia Commonwealth of University. High school program completers can earn up to 12 hours of dual credit toward their associate degree.
