Landscaping is for students who enjoy the great outdoors! This one-year course includes instruction in gardening, turf management, plant identification, grounds maintenance, and landscape design. Students study the proper care of landscaped lawns, trees, and shrubs. Emphasis is placed on the proper use of landscape/gardening tools, machinery, and power equipment.
In addition, students grow fruits, vegetables, trees, and raise ornamental plants in the land laboratory. Instruction is provided in computerized landscape design and the creation of computerized landscape plans. This course presents and excellent opportunity to gain a working knowledge of outdoor plants, landscape design, and how to profit from it.
Examples of career opportunities are: working in parks, gold courses, country clubs, nurseries, garden centers, tree services, and landscaping companies. This course will enable the student to be better prepared to start his/her own lawn and landscaping business.
