Design, Multimedia, and Web Technologies/Programming (Web Design)
Design, Multimedia, and Web Technologies/Programming (Web Design) is a two-year, 3 credit program designed to offer the tools and skills students need to succeed in today's high-technology marketplace. Successful completion of the two year program offers the opportunity for students to earn industry certification as an Associate Design Specialist through the Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW) program (see the CIW Certified website for more details). Instruction includes:
- Developing proficiency in Web programming specifically HyperText Markup Language (HTML), cascading style sheets (CSS) and Javascript.
- Incorporating principles of layout and design in completing Web and desktop-published projects.
- Developing real-world business programming skills using a variety of web enabled technologies including PHP, ASP, SQL and ColdFusion.
- Refining analytical and advanced-level computer skills through innovative projects using the Internet, programming languages, multimedia/animation software, audio and video capture devices.
- Demonstrating an understanding of business ethics, copyright laws, computer crimes and privacy issues.
- Developing leadership and team-building skills through student organization (Future Business Leaders of America - FBLA) activities and small-group projects.
