Report Cards for Second Marking Period
The second marking period report cards went home
on Tuesday, 2/14/12. Please review the grades, sign the
bottom portion and return to your child's homeroom teacher
by Thursday, 2/23/12.

R.E.B. Awards for Teaching Excellence
The Community Foundation is looking to recognize teachers
who have distinguished themselves through inspiring classroom
performance. Winners can receive professional development
awards of up to $12,000. If you would like to nominate an
outstanding teacher please click here to obtain a nomination form.
Nominations must be received by February, 23.
Spring Sports Interest Informational Meeting
Monday, March 12, 2012 at 5:30pm in the Pocahontas Auditorium
8th Grade Specialty Center Applicants
Applicants will be notified by Mid-March about their
acceptance status to the Specialty Centers. Students will
have until 3/30/12 to notify the center of their intent.
Spring Sports
Spring Sports start on March 20th
Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10K Virginia Kids Run
This event will be on 3/31/12. Anyone interested in
running, pick up an applicaton from your PE teacher, and
don't forget to write down Pocahontas on the application!
Sports Physicals
On May 3rd Pocahontas will hold sports physicals
after school for $20 (cash or check made payable to
"Commonwealth Sport Medicine". Parents need to
complete the front portion of the physical form
and the student needs to bring it with them
the day of the physical. Forms are available
on the school's website (under Activities/
Sports Calendar) or in the front office.

General Mills Box Tops & other collections
We continue to collect General Mills box tops, along with Campbell's
labels, Coke product caps (for Coke Reward's points), and even
aluminum can tabs for The Ronald McDonald House. Any of those
items you would like to contribute you can send in with your student.
